A line from Renoir’s film - “Everyone has his reasons” - sums up Altman’s work. Set in an English country estate, in 1932, Gosford Park appears to be a murder mystery. All the while, the police try to figure out who killed the lord of the manor. Downstairs, a randy aristocrat bangs away at a plump kitchen maid. Upstairs, the mistress of the house boffs a young valet. ![]()
